What is Rolfing?
Structural Integration is a transformative practice in which a certified practitioner seeks to harmonize the connective tissue matrix within a client’s body. Doing so allows for increased ease of movement, decreased pain, better coordination, heightened perception and more efficient use of energy in both day to day tasks and during more demanding physical activities. The term “Rolfing” comes from the name of the discipline’s creator Dr. Ida P. Rolf, this label was initially a nickname for Structural Integration given by many of the early witnesses to the work and was later adopted as an official term to describe the work done only by those certified by the original school for Structural Integration, the Dr. Ida Rolf Institute based out of Boulder, Colorado and started by Dr. Rolf herself.

“Form and function are a unity, two sides of one coin. In order to enhance function, appropriate form must exist or be created. ”

the 10 Series or “the Recipe”
is the traditional approach to addressing the entire human structural over the course of ten sessions. The 10 Series is adaptable to every client, however, the territory and main goals of each session remain largely the same in most cases. Skilled practitioners will use a variation of strategies, techniques and tactics to evoke higher levels of order and organization throughout each area of the body, while keeping a wholistic view of the entire person so as to promote a body-wide harmony.
One of Kian’s actual clients, before and after receiving 10 sessions. Notice the improved structural alignment, increased balance, and increased tone. What else do you see?
